The forecourt will have better lighting, larger signage and bicycle facilities.RESIDENTS and commuters have only one week left to have their say on the Footscray Train Station redevelopment.

The upgrade is part of the $52.1 million Footscray Renewal project and includes a new forecourt and footbridge. The new footbridge will be fitted with CCTV cameras and lighting to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act. The existing footbridge was constructed in the early 1900s.

Sixteen shops on the south-eastern side of Irving St have been acquired for demolition later this year to accommodate a wider station entrance.

Construction of the new footbridge will begin mid-2009 and forecourt works will start in 2010. The redevelopment will be complete by early 2011.

The community can provide feedback at Nicholson St One Stop Planning Shop.

Star asked four commuters last week what they thought of the new plans for Footscray Station.
