Yarraville misses on crossing upgrade list

YARRAVILLE train station has been overlooked in a list of 45 level crossing upgrades across the state.
Greens MLC Colleen Hartland requested a copy of the list in parliament last week and asked Trades Minister Theo Theophanous (for the Public Transport Minister) if there were any plans to improve the crossing.
“As the Anderson St level crossing has the maximum level of protection, no upgrade under this program is possible,” Mr Theophanous said in a written response.
Cross Safe at Yarraville spokesperson Alexis Ensor was unfazed by the list and said Transport Minister Lynne Kosky had already promised funding for the level crossing in this year’s budget.
“We acknowledge that there are situations that are much more frantic than ours,” he said. The Department of Transport confirmed the funding.
