THE Footscray Asian Business Association (FABA) met with Maribyrnong City Council yesterday in a last-ditch bid resolve the paid parking dispute.
Representatives from the Victorian branch of the Vietnamese Community in Australia also attended.
Traders in Hopkins, Nicholson, Byron and Leeds streets had placed “no parking meter” signs in their windows after the council’s decision to install 30 on-street and off-street parking ticket machines around Footscray’s CBD.
FABA spokesperson Benny Binh Van Le said the group had also sent a formal objection letter to the council.
The meeting took place after Star went to press.
