Searching … Police want to speak to these two men about an assault on a Sunshine-bound train in September.

POLICE are appealing for rail passengers who witnessed an unprovoked attack on a man at West Footscray Station in September.

Transit detectives have released an image of two men they want to speak to about the attack that left a man with fractured cheek bones and other facial injuries.

Police said the assault occurred after a group of males boarded the train at West Footscray Railway Station on Saturday 29 September at 11.15pm.

Two men from the group approached an Asian passenger and began to punch and kick him, the pair were joined by another male who also punched and kicked the man.

Anyone who knows the identity of the men or who witnessed the assault is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
