Dr Ziggy Switkowski addresses the Rotary Club of Dandenong and guests at Sandown Racecourse last week on the role of nuclear energy in Australia’s future.
FORMER Telstra chief turned nuclear energy advocate Dr Ziggy Switkowski entertained business figures at a special lunch organised by the Rotary Club of Dandenong last week.
Dr Switkowski, renowned for his report to the Federal Government on the role of nuclear energy in Australia’s future, addressed the crowd at Sandown Racecourse’s Committee Room on the same topic.
Dr Switkowski said he believed as many as eight nuclear reactors could find a home in Victoria, and when asked if the Westernport area was a likely site, he said it fitted the criteria of a suitable nuclear site.
The explosive content of Dr Switkowski’s speech drew protests from the Westernport Action Group whose members displayed anti-nuclear placards outside the racecourse.
