GOLD medallist and Keysborough resident Natalia Rahman is planning how to help next year’s Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal following an online auction of her Commonwealth Games top last Friday.

Ms Rahman, 23, raised $600 for the TV charity event when she contributed the top in which she won a gold medal for shooting last month.

“On Friday morning, when I turned the appeal on, I wanted to do something,” she said.

“I called up and said I was willing to donate the top if they wanted to auction it off, and the money would go to the Good Friday Appeal.

“I dropped it off, went to the phone rooms, and had (a television) interview.”

The young skeet shooter said she always gave to the appeal, and following the success of this year’s auction, was already planning with organisers for bigger things next year.

“We have got a few things planned for next year’s one,” Ms Rahman said.

“I talked about it with them and I would love to be able to help out.”

Greater Dandenong’s commitment to the appeal was further demonstrated when a Noble Park man shaved off his beard for the first time in 26 years to raise funds for the hospital.
