MOVE over Lourdes and Fatima, Glenroy resident Georgette Elhakin believes there’s a new miracle centre and it’s right here in Glenroy.
Three months ago Mrs Elhakin was going about her daily routine when she noticed an outline at the bottom of her olive tree.
“I think it is a statue of the Madonna,” Mrs Elhakin said.
“It is a sign of my praying and makes me think I should never give up.”
The mother of three said she first noticed the figure about three months ago and since then “miracles” have been occurring.
“I’m not a fake, it wasn’t always there, it just appeared,” she said.
Mrs Elhakin told Star she had a lot of health and financial problems over the past few years.
Her husband Sam has chronic asthma and does not work, neither does Mrs Elhakin because of poor health.
The couple have three children aged 16, 14 and 13 who all attend Box Forest College in Glenroy.
In December last year Mrs Elhakin discovered a lump on her inner thigh, which was x-rayed and tested in January.
Late last month the results came back but the lump had already disappeared.
“I prayed and asked for help, that if this was bad to help me and the lump disappeared,” Mrs Elhakin said.
“My doctor can’t explain it, but it shows on the new results - it’s gone.”
One of the other miracles, according to Mrs Elhakin, was a letter received from Centrelink telling her they owed her money instead of her owing them money.
“I don’t know what it is, but it has helped me,” she said.
“For me it is a sign - don’t give up hope because there is hope for everybody.
“God has given me health in life so I can guide my children in this world.”
But Mrs Elhakin’s husband Sam does not believe the figure on the tree is an image of the Madonna, which has stopped Mrs Elhakin from informing her local priest.
However, last week Mrs Elhakin’s sister, Alice, saw the figure for the first time and told Star she was a true believer and is pushing for her sister to inform the media and their priest.
Mrs Elhakin and her sister come from Lebanon and believe the figure on the tree is Our Lady of Lebanon.
The Virgin Mary holds great significance for the Lebanese as she visited the area which is today Lebanon Jesus and Cana, in the south of Lebanon, was where Jesus performed one of his first miracles.
