PASSENGERS on the Craigieburn train line can take advantage of two extra peak-hour train services from next month.

Starting on 10 October there will be one new morning peak service on the Craigieburn line as well as one evening peak service every day from Flinders Street to Broadmeadows.

The extra services are part of timetable improvements that added an extra 285 services each week.

Metro CEO Andrew Lezala said a revision of the timetable in June led to improved performance on some of Melbourne’s busiest train lines and he believes October’s timetable will have a similar effect.

“We’ve seen the benefits the June timetable had on the Cranbourne, Pakenham and Frankston lines by providing more evenly spaced services and reducing overcrowding, and October’s changes will lead to similar improvements on the Craigieburn, Sydenham and Werribee lines,” Mr Lezala said.

Copies of the new timetables are now available from metrotrains.com.au, or can be picked up from premium stations from Monday 27 September.
