Drought to flood

FROM drought to flooding plains, farmers are now facing problems caused by Victoria’s recent heavy rain.
With more rain forecast, the Department of Primary Industries has warned farmers to have flood plans in place to cope with the possibility of flash flooding.
DPI Animal Health manager Dr Tony Britt said flood plans should include moving stock to higher, accessible areas with plenty of food and shelter.
“While most landholders are well versed on fire plans, it has been some time since they have had to contemplate the prospect of being too wet,” Dr Britt said.
