A WOMAN is recovering in The Alfred hospital after she was trampled by a cow on a Kinglake Central property last week.
Advanced life support paramedics from Kinglake arrived within 12 minutes of the call to find the 74-year-old woman lying in a paddock.
Paramedic Bruce Sutherland said the woman was hurt when she went to check on the cows.
“The woman was knocked to the ground and trampled by one of the cows,” Mr Sutherland said.
“She suffered a deep cut to her ear and elbow and pain to her back, pelvis and hip.”
Mr Sutherland said the woman was unable to stand because of the pain. “It was quite difficult to move her as she was down at the bottom of a paddock in a gully near a creek and we got her back up the property,” he said.
“The woman was taken on a spine board in a farm ute to the ambulance helicopter and flown to The Alfred hospital in a stable condition.”
