CALDER Cannons extended their TAC Cup finals stay into the second week after a crushing 101-point win against Eastern Ranges in the qualifying final on Sunday.
An eight-goal opening term set up the victory and the Cannons piled on another seven goals in the third term to lead by 68 points at the final change.
The reigning premier continued the goal-fest in the final term on their way to a 25.12 (162) to 9.7 (61) win.
Usual defender Matthew Watson booted five goals for the winning side, and was ably supported by Jordan Schroder and Cameron Guthrie, who each kicked four.
The Cannons will next play Geelong Falcons in a cut-throat final.
Meanwhile, Northern Knights suffered a 45-point loss to Geelong Falcons in Saturday’s qualifying final.
The Knights trailed by just one point at halftime, but conceded 11 goals to four in the second half. Timmy Totevski and Adam Marcon were named in the best, while Darcy Barden notched three goals.
The Knights must defeat Gippsland Power this weekend to stay alive in the finals race.
