THE constant worrying and feverish stress levels are over for Year 12 students, who finished their VCE exams last week.
Whittlesea Secondary College student Bronte Wight is relieved that one of the most anxious periods in her life is done and dusted, and is looking forward to the future.
“I feel like I did well, I wasn’t as stressed as I thought I’d be,” she said.
Bronte said she looked at all the options available to her next year and was well prepared for whatever final exam result she received.
Bronte hopes to combine a Bachelor of Science degree with a physical education teaching qualification at Victoria University or La Trobe University.
But for now she just wants to let her hair down and celebrate with friends on Phillip Island.
Fellow student Dylan Chatley also feels a sense of relief that exams are over.
“It feels good that it’s all finished,” he said.
“I think I did pretty well in all my exams, but it’s hard to tell. I just tried to forget about each exam once it was done.
“You can’t change anything once it’s done. What you know you know and what you don’t you don’t, and things will work themselves out.”
The Eden Park resident wants to get involved in structural engineering at university.
“I’m hoping to do a bachelor of engineering at Melbourne University if I get the right score,” he said.
Dylan said he would miss team sports the most at school, particularly his footy side, which made the state finals this year.
The one thing he won’t miss is after-school study.
“I was doing four to five hours of study after school every day and in the two weeks off before the exams I did about 10 hours a day,” he said.
Dylan will celebrate the end of school with a trip to Torquay with his mates.
