FIVE roads in Whittlesea will be upgraded with $2.3 million from the Federal Government’s National Building Package.

Whittlesea mayor Mary Lalios has applauded the projects, the biggest of which is a $1 million upgrade to Gorge Rd, between Riverside Drive and Plenty Rd.

“A speed-vehicle activated curve warning sign, guard rail, upgraded street lighting and illuminated road studs are included in the project to address this accident spot,” Cr Lalios said.

“Another project will include three roundabouts and raised pavements on Kingsway Drive, between High St and Edgars Rd, Thomastown.”

The funding will also see a traffic signal upgrade of the intersections of High St / Mahoneys Rd / Keon Pde, Donnybrook Rd / Springs Rd, and Childs Rd / Station St.
