MELTON-based Adam Kelly produced a great training feat to land the Classic International Floats Claiming Pace over 2080 metres at Cranbourne on Tuesday with Bailed Up, a nine-year-old Perfect Art/Bedelia gelding, which was making his first race appearance since December 2007.
Driven with surprising agression by Gavin Lang from gate three to lead, Bailed Up raced by Helen Benger was always travelling and kicked clear on entering the home running.
Safely defying all challengers, Bailed Up ($21.90) cruised to the wire in advance of Garstang off a three wide trail at the bell on the back of the well supported Dark Shadow, to score in a mile rate of 1-59.2 and in winning, chalked up his 16th success in 76 race appearances.
VETERAN Meltonian Graeme Lang’s home bred four-year-old Union Guy/Wanda Off gelding Wandering Guy broke his maiden status at start number nine, when successful in the Chicken Maryland Maryborough Pacers Handicap for C0 class over 2190 metres at Wednesday’s Maryborough fixture.
Restrained from outside the front row to possie three back in the moving line, Wandering Guy moved to be one/one on the home turn and when asked for an effort on turning, ran home strongly to blowse the pacemaker Regal Operative, with Showboat Casey third in a mile rate of 2-05.7.
MELTON husband and wife - John and Maree Caldow enjoyed a night of nights at Terang on Wednesday, finishing the evening with a stable treble courtesy of Rustler Boy, Boy From Ipanema and Jordan Ashleigh.
