IN a thriller, Tooradin Netball Club’s A-grade team lost by a goal virtually on the final whistle against Keysborough on Saturday.
Tooradin looked out of sorts in the first term with Alison Allen the only player firing in wing defence.
After some advice from the coach, the team displayed a huge turnaround and brought some much-needed life into the match.
Shona Wells was inspired with a string of excellent passes to the goalers. Stacey McConnell brought some pace into the midcourt and delivered the ball well.
Michelle Barnes virtually shut down the goal attack and pulled in every available rebound for the quarter.
At the other end of the court, Erin McMillan not only created some brilliance in the goal ring, but assisted with a couple of handy turnovers in the attack end.
Lisa Van Der Meer was a steady set of hands coming into the centre after half time with tidy disposal into Holly Booth whose long range shooting fired up the growing crowd. Rachel Platt moved into goal defence and made goaling tough for Keysborough.
With only a two-goal lead going into the last term, all Tooradin needed to do was hold on but luck and time were not on its side.
Scores: Tooradin 38 lost to Keysborough 39.
Awards: Andrew Craven Concreting BOC Award – Michelle Barnes; LMG Rural Fencing Coaches Award – Shona Wells; Players Best Player Award – Shona Wells.

Tooradin goalers Ally Noonan and Loretta Iverach were very accurate for the entire match, both shooting at more than over 80 per cent.
Sandra Van Rooye, Tenneale Wells and Carly Booth applied great defensive pressure throughout the match and Julia Rowan played a steady game at wing defence.
With the game almost level at half-time, coach Sandra Van Rooye moved Booth into the midcourt, with an immediate impact, supported by Holly Gillespie and Stacey Edwards, it fed the goalers beautifully and by three-quarter time, Tooradin held a commanding 10-goal lead.
The girls kept up the intensity in the final quarter and ran out comfortable winners.
