DROUIN Netball Club’s A-grade team avenged last season’s grand final loss with a seven-goal win against Warragul on Saturday.
Drouin didn’t get off to an ideal start, struggling to score.
Defenders Linda McLeish and Nicki Bryce were doing a great job to gain possession, but Drouin was unable to capitalise in attack.
Christie Proctor was moved into the centre in the second quarter with Sam East taking the court at goal shooter.
Kylie Proctor moved into wing attack and the team started to lift its scoring rate. Stacie Proctor stood up to the defensive pressure applied by her opponent.
Ebony Mumford (WD) utilised her long reach and height advantage to perfection, forcing Warragul into passing errors.

Drouin had a sluggish start, allowing Warragul to gain a five-goal lead at the first break.
However, the defence end lifted its intensity with Lia Olsen moving to goal defence a pivotal move, starting a Drouin resurgence.
Drouin scored seven unanswered goals to gain the lead by two at half-time.
With only one goal separating the teams, the last quarter showed the team’s great fighting qualities. Drouin finally lifted their scoring rate with some better flow in attack and the defence end continually turning the ball over.

Drouin prevailed over ladder leaders, Warragul in an upset win that should move it into final-five contention.
Drouin started strongly but couldn’t maintain its dominance in the second quarter.
By half time, Warragul led by one goal.
Drouin’s defence end was outstanding led by Kristy Rowlinson, well supported in the third quarter by Jess Hedley and Ebony Dunne, restricting Warragul to just three goals.
With plenty of pressure on in the final quarter, there were lots of turnovers from both team.
Drouin’s attack end worked overtime to get the ball into the goalers, moving the ball around the ring with precision.
All three junior players, Alex Barwick, Jess Hedley and Ebony Dunne contributed to the win.

Once again, this was a fierce, high-quality contest, played in great spirit.
Drouin led for most of the game, but without their customary bench of three players, Warragul was able to rotate, gain momentum and win the match.

Courtney Jolly provided a strong option for Drouin in goals. Jess Wallace fed the goalers well from outside the circle.

Taylor Beck moved into the centre, providing Drouin with plenty of drive in the midcourt and Drouin turned a deficit into a four-goal lead by half-time.
Brooke Bartlett was outstanding in goal defence.
In the final quarter, excellent goaling accuracy from Drouin contributed significantly to the win - an excellent team effort.
