BUNYIP Roofing apprentice Luke Murphy is at the top of his trade after being crowned Apprentice of the Year last month.

The 19-year-old is undertaking a roof tiling and slating apprenticeship at Bunyip roofing while learning about the trade at Holmesglen TAFE’s Chadstone campus.

Mr Murphy was surprised to receive the award that is judged on theory and practical work carried out at TAFE.

The former Neerim District Secondary College student said he was enjoying the three-year apprenticeship but was unsure of whether he would stay in the industry or take on another apprenticeship when he qualified.
