PAKENHAM sporting clubs, groups and organisations have been promised a funding boost by Cardinia Shire Council.
Central Ward councillors Brett Owen and Bill Ronald won support from colleagues at their meeting last week to inject almost $5000 from ward finances into local projects.
Pakenham District Guides will receive $2000 for improvements to their hall in Henry Street. Pakenham Tennis Club will receive $1000.
The Fit to Drive education program run at Pakenham Secondary College by Road Safety Outer South East (ROSE) was promised $750.
Other recipients include Pakenham’s junior football club ($800) and the floor ball club ($300).
Cardinia councillors have about $40,000 to spend each year on projects or initiatives they believe are worthy of support in their wards.
