AFL footballers and Pakenham’s own Neighbours star Pippa Black will headline a gala evening to raise money for Casey Cherry and his family on Saturday, 9 June.
The young Pakenham man was severely injured earlier this year in a freak motorbike crash.
Casey has been confined to a wheelchair after an accident while working as a jackeroo on a family friend’s remote outback station 200 kilometres north of Broken Hill.
The community has rallied to help the popular young man and his family.
A major fundraiser will be held at the Cardinia Cultural Centre in Pakenham on the Saturday of the Queen’s Birthday long weekend. An auction, performances from musical group Classical Gass and several fundraising initiatives will be highlights of the evening.
Items to be auctioned include numerous pieces of signed sporting memorabilia, wood heaters, barbecues, a plasma TV set, accommodation packages, weekend hire of a BMW convertible car, fountains, pottery, vouchers, household items, travel luggage and much more.
Organiser Wendy Goldsack said tables were still available for the event.
“Tickets are $55 per head and we would love to see a great turnout for this very worthy cause,” she said.
Organisers said payment for auction items must be made on the night but collection of larger items can be arranged throughout the following week. Credit card facilities are available but not EFTPOS.
