NAR Nar Goon stole the spotlight two weeks ago when Triple M lobbed in town but this time it was Pakenham’s turn to host a radio station.
SEN brought its Footy Panel Show to Castello’s Pakenham Hotel on Friday as part of its efforts to embrace loyal listeners.
Saint Brendon Goddard and Kangaroo Nathan Thompson, who have both suffered season-ending knee injuries in 2007, joined regular hosts Anthony Hudson, Mark Robinson and Kevin Bartlett on the program.
Goddard is no stranger to the region after growing up in Traralgon and playing for local TAC Cup side the Gippsland Power.
The weekly broadcast rotates between different Castello’s Hotels and RSLs, and Hudson enjoys the exposure to live audiences.
“We get out to the suburbs – which is great – and spread the word of the station.
“We meet good footy people wherever we go,” the seasoned media commentator said.
“My father spent his early years in Pakenham then grew up in Upper Beaconsfield after that.
“This is actually the first time I’ve been here but I used to always hear dad talk about Pakenham.”
Castello’s Pakenham Hotel venue manager Heath Gurrieri was equally as enthused about SEN’s appearance and is eagerly awaiting the station’s return in September.
“It’s good to have a few people in here and bring something from in town out here to Pakenham,” he said.
“They are nice fellas and quite funny, actually. I’m looking forward to the next one, so we can get more people in.”
The Footy Panel Show will entertain locals once again when it airs from Castello’s Berwick Hotel, which is located on the corner of Clyde and Greaves roads, on Friday, 10 August.
