MISSION group Big House Communities is opening a new community space as part of its Op Shop complex in Pakenham.
The Op Shop in Treloar Lane has been open since early March, helping to fund the transformation of the back room.
Cardinia mayor Kate Lempriere will officially open Pakenham’s newest community hub, The Meeting Place, on Monday.
“The aim of our new room, which we are calling The Meeting Place, is to simply provide the opportunity for the community to, as the name suggests, come and meet each other and hang out,” Big House Communities director Andre Van Eymeren said.
The Meeting Place will have five computers connected to the internet. Residents are welcome to use the computers for a gold coin donation.
Big House will also run simple workshops in word processing, email and internet use.
