Best practice for access

CARDINIA council has been praised for leading the way in improving access to public buildings for people with a disability.
Councillors at their meeting last week adopted a new policy that commits the shire to meeting ‘best practice’ targets when addressing access and inclusion issues.
Councillor Graeme Legge said the policy was the result of a review of existing guidelines and took Cardinia beyond simply meeting its legal responsibilities.
“We are going for best practice and we may be the only council in Australia at that standard,” he said.
