A star is born ... Erin Font will head to Hollywood next month for an opportunity of a lifetime.
MOVE over Dakota Fanning, Kooweerup’s very own star is about to be born.
Erin Font, 13, has been selected as one of 20 Australians to take part in a trip of a lifetime to Hollywood – all in the name of drama.
Proud father Craig told the Gazette he was surprised there were no noise complaints from neighbours when his daughter received the news last week that she was chosen to take part in a Hollywood Immersive Workshop. “She just squealed the house down,” he laughed. “She is so excited.”
The workshop will not be Erin’s first brush with fame – she has been in a couple of television commercials and even been an extra on popular soap Neighbours.
But for dad Craig, her entry into the workshop is no surprise.
“You could say it was in the blood,” he said.
“Her grandmother was involved in the old Prisoner series and it’s followed through her mother’s side of the family.”
Erin and Craig will head to the United States on 2 April and, like her idol Dakota Fanning, it’s hoped her star will continue grow.

“There were chaperones available but they were unknown to us, and we have her safety to look after,” Craig said.
“Plus the wife went to Canada last year, so it was only fair.”
While the workshop is expected to be hard work, Craig is looking forward to spending some quality time with his daughter in the big smoke.
“We’ll be going on a Universal Studios tour, seeing some comedy shows and checking out the walk of fame,” he said.
“We are both pretty excited about it.”
Like her idol Dakota Fanning, it’s hoped her star will continue to grow.
“I think she identifies with her because she is a younger actress and just likes the way she acts,” Craig said.
“The way she can play a variety of parts whether it be something serious or a little upbeat.”
