Pakenham TMU Sergeant Nigel Atkins says police will continue to operate along Manks Road to stop drivers from speeding along the bridges.
CARDINIA Shire’s top traffic cop Nigel Atkins has hit out at drivers who say policing over the Manks Road bridges in Dalmore is unfair.
Last week employees from Dalmore business Momack Produce described recent targeting of the area as a simple case of “revenue raising”.
But Sgt Atkins said police had been targeting the area since September following numerous complaints from local farmers who live and own property along Manks Road.
He said since September, 27 drivers had been intercepted along Manks Road – 10 of them lost their licences due to excessive speeds, some more than 25 kilometres per hour over the limit.
“This is a poor indictment on safety practices by some drivers out there,” Sgt Atkins said.
“The majority are all local people.”
Sgt Atkins said all types of speeding were dangerous and the Pakenham Police team would continue to operate with optimum results and minimal confusion to ensure community safety.
