Jason Fleming from CWA Recycling won the Gazette’s Tip-Stars tipping competition. 35745
JASON Fleming from CWA Recycling finished on top of the Gazette’s Tip-Stars ladder, taking out the competition in the final round.
Finishing on 125 points, the mad football follower said he owed the win to just going with his instinct.
“I had no real strategy,” Mr Fleming said.
“I have a fairly good interest in footy and towards the end I was just going with who I thought had the best chance to win and in the end it went my way.”
Coming into the final round, Mr Fleming was sitting just one point behind Peter Van Diemen, from Pakenham Produce and Saddlery, and Matt Bode, from CGE Hire, who were tied in the lead.
Mr Fleming said he pulled out all strings to try and win the competition in the end.
“I went for a few upsets and it worked in my favour,” he said.
It came down to Sunday night’s clash between the Western Bulldogs and the Pies that saw Mr Fleming beat Mr Van Diemen by one point.
“I was cheering for the Bulldogs,” he said.
Mr Fleming also finished in equal top position in his workplace footy tipping competition.
Coming in at equal third was Matt Bode from CGE Hire and Rod Ferguson from Toy Kingdom.
Although she may not have won the competition Jennifer Beasley, from Treeline Design, was also a winner in her own eyes.
Her aim was to beat the Gazette’s mascot Wally Wombat, which she successfully did by one point.
